Ahead of the Curve:
Come see what’s cooking at the Kitchen/Bath
Industry Show & Conference® (KBIS) 2006

Chicago – The biggest and most inclusive tradeshow for the kitchen and bath industry, K/BIS 2006, will show off the latest innovations in kitchen and bath products and design ideas to get you and your company ahead of the curve.

Owned by the National Kitchen & Bath AssociationSM (NKBA), K/BIS is the fashion show for the kitchen and bath industry. The home decorator and modern interior engineer, designers and manufacturers from all over the world will be networking and exhibiting from April 20th to the 23rd at McCormick Place in Chicago.

Fresh from the success of last year’s show in Las Vegas, participants can expect K/BIS 2006 in Chicago to embrace the more than 900 exhibitors and 50,000 professionals expected to be in attendance.

Set to debut at K/BIS 2006 is the NKBA Industry Trends Marketplace, where the hottest products in seven different categories covering Green Design, Universal Design & Accessibility, Lighting, Outdoor Living & Satellite Kitchens & Baths, Natural Stone, Tile, and Solid Surfaces will be showcased on the K/BIS Exhibit Floor. The NKBA Center Stage will also provide attendees with educational presentations, displays of new product lines, pavilions of top specialty suppliers and practical knowledge of the trends in the marketplace.

As the leading voice in the kitchen and bath industry for more than 40 years, the National Kitchen & Bath Association has created NKBA Professional Development Courses, which are offered throughout the event to keep you and your employees up-to-date on emerging trends in design and business. Through these courses, attendees have the ability to learn everything from design musts, to sales techniques to project management and much more from leading professionals in the industry.

The NKBA Conference Program is a great complement to the NKBA Professional Development Courses. This program is filled with uniquely designed Keynotes/Luncheons, NKBA Conference Tracks and Special Events that are geared specifically to offer participants extended information about the ever-changing kitchen and bath industry. There are three different NKBA Conference Tracks: Design & Inspiration, Technology & Trends, and Business & Leadership. The Design & Inspiration track will help the serious professional stay ahead of the design curve, while the Technology & Trends track offers insight and future forecasts into innovations and big ideas, and the Business & Leadership track explores the key issues that make or break today’s business.

The National Kitchen & Bath Association will host the most impressive Design Idea Center (DIC) ever witnessed. Meredith Corporation, publisher of the NKBA’s official consumer publication, Kitchen and Bath Ideas ® have assembled five of their publications: Better Homes and Gardens®, Kitchen and Bath Ideas®, Traditional Home®, Country Home®, and Midwest Living® to present the theme “The Best of Times are at Meredith.” The theme will be based on a typical day in the life of family pursuits. Visitors will discover concepts and design ideas based on the individual magazines’ core readership.

Additional keynote speakers scheduled to appear in the morning and afternoon sessions include: motivational manager and Trump golf property salesperson, Carolyn Kepcher, co-owner of Applied Research & Consulting research firm, Dr. Andrew Tuck, and award-winning designer and best-selling author Cynthia Rowley, tackles inspiration and design.

As the tradition continues, the NKBA Board of Directors’ Gala & Cocktail Reception will be the opening ceremony to kick-off K/BIS 2006. The elegant and unique setting of Field Museum of Natural History is slated to host the event, and will include the announcement of this year’s NKBA
Design Competition Winners and Hall of Fame Inductees in the presence of Sue, the largest and most complete Tyrannosaurus rex fossil in the world.

“We are very excited about the K/BIS 2006 event in Chicago,” said Allan S. Pattison, President of the National Kitchen & Bath Association. “This year, we feel that there have been several advancements in the design and technical part of the industry that will get our attendees and exhibitors ahead of the curve.”
